Note: This program replaces "D-2 Nuts and Bolts of Competitive Intelligence: Librarians and Marketing"

Law firm mergers have resulted in the displacement of one firm's library staff, and short-sighted cost containment measures have resulted in the elimination of library directors and library staffs being pushed under the auspices of other departments. Now, due to the downturn in the economy, private law firm librarians are very vulnerable.

Some firms are conducting reductions in force and some are terminating individuals for cause. It is time to assess the landscape and decide whether librarians want to remain librarians. If so, how can they make their positions more secure, keep their skills current, and prove their worth? If not, what is their next career move? For what profession have their skills and experiences prepared them?
