The Tribal Supreme Court Project was formed in 2001 in response to a series of U.S. Supreme Court cases that negatively affected tribal sovereignty. Its purpose is to strengthen tribal advocacy before the Court to reverse this trend. The Project is staffed by the Native American Rights Fund (NARF) and the National Congress of American Indians, and consists of a working group of more than 200 professionals. In conjunction with NARF’s legal staff, librarians and webmaster, the Project hosts a comprehensive web site on Indian cases being monitored or pending before the Court, including related research materials. This program will discuss the project’s development and the essential elements of an effective online tool for a coordinated group advocacy approach (relating to staffing, technology and communication).
