Learning Outcomes:
1) Participants will be able to discuss various issues associated with aggregator-neutral bibliographic records for electronic journals and monographs: availability, creation, standards, purchase, customization, quality, maintenance, catalog display, etc.
2) Participants will be able to assess the viability of using aggregator-neutral bibliographic records to provide access to electronic journals and monographs in their local catalogs.

An aggregator-neutral bibliographic record provides access to all versions of an online resource using one MARC record. This type of record allows for consolidated access without cluttering the catalog with multiple bibliographic records for the same electronic resource available from different vendors. Now that legal databases such as HeinOnline and MOML include (and often duplicate) electronic monographs, this issue is coming to the forefront of our local catalogs. Come hear how a respected SCCTP trainer and a vendor cataloger create aggregator-neutral bibliographic records, easing patron access to electronic journals and monographs available from multiple vendors. Learn and consider the issues related to the creation and adoption of aggregator-neutral records: availability, creation, standards, purchase, customization, quality, maintenance, display, etc.
