Monday, July 27 - 4:00pm - 5:15pm
Location:
WCC-Room 145 AB
Target Audience:
Librarians concerned about preserving state legislative information
Learning Outcomes:
1) Participants will be able to apply the best practices and standards to their own digital preservation projects.
2) Participants will be able to compare the practical working model with preservation activities in their own states in order to assess the long-term value of those projects.

The Legal Information Preservation Alliance has identified preservation of at-risk state legal information as a priority, and the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program of the Library of Congress recently funded four multi-state projects working with 23 states to preserve legislative information. The initial demonstration projects will collect and preserve digital content of interest to Congress, including state legislative records. Each project will also share tools, services and best practices to provide a practical working model for other states. The panelists will represent the funding agency and two of the states participating in the project led by Minnesota. They will address policy issues, collaboration strategies, standards, access, authentication, technical requirements, and the goals of a national and international preservation infrastructure.
