Opening Event Dessert Reception

Saturday, July 25 - 8:30pm - 10:30pm
Location:
Library of Congress - Grand Hall

Sponsored by: LexisNexis

It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: Tour the Library of Congress with your treasured colleagues and friends while savoring rich, spectacular desserts of all kinds.

The Library of Congress, which is co-hosting the evening with AALL and LexisNexis, is rolling out the red carpet and opening many of its American exhibits—everything from drafts of the Declaration of Independence and Brown vs. Board of Education to Maya Lin's 1981 Vietnam War Memorial proposal to original works by Norman Rockwell.

LexisNexis is rolling out confections—pies, cakes, and even samples of Thomas Jefferson's own ice cream recipe. Fruit and cheese selections will also be available along with a variety of wines and beverages. Sample and enjoy the live music. What a perfect prelude to the Annual Meeting: exploring our past before we innovate for our future.

LexisNexis is providing bus transportation* from the Renaissance Washington, D.C., headquarters hotel beginning at 8 p.m. See next month's Update for more specific details.

*SECURITY NOTE: To accommodate the Library of Congress security policy, buses will drop off passengers two blocks from the entrance. (If you need door-to-door delivery, a taxi is your best option). All bags and purses will be scanned. To keep security lines moving efficiently, please do not bring bulky bags and/or purses. You must have your Opening Event Ticket to pass through library security; no exceptions. Be sure to check in on Friday or Saturday at AALL's registration desk at the Washington Convention Center to pick up your registration badge and ticket to this event as these materials will not be mailed this year.
