W-1 Cool Tools: The Workshop
Saturday, July 25 - 8:30am - 5:00pm
(8:00 a.m. check-in)
Location:
Georgetown University Law Center-Williams Law Library
Target Audience:
Computing services librarians, reference librarians, technical services librarians and library management Learning Outcomes:
1) Participants will be able to identify at least three significant trends in the delivery of technical services.
2) Participants will identify strategies that will help them avoid common problems encountered by technologists when implementing Web 2.0 technologies in libraries.
In this intensive, one-day, hands-on workshop, participants will plan, design and create Web 2.0 solutions for legal research instruction and the management of law library services. A team of experienced library technologists will lead the group in the discussion and implementation of common library 2.0 applications. Participants will identify, compare and critique technologies such as wikis, blogs, social networks, widgets, weblog extensions, collaboration software, AJAX, RSS, APIs and virtual worlds. This is an effective, quick-moving opportunity for librarians to jump into the Web 2.0 pool with lifeguards on hand! All handouts for this program will be linked at the CS-SIS web site.
